How local businesses in Idaho Falls get found.
Almost everyone looking for a shop, a menu, or a repair near them starts on their phone. Here is what actually decides whether they find you, in plain language, with no jargon and nothing to buy.
Why doesn't my business show up on Google?
Most of the time it isn't a penalty. It is that Google has almost nothing to read. Google needs a name, an address, a phone number, a category, and a short description before it can put you on the map. Many local businesses are missing one or two of those, or have them written differently in different places. A page on your own domain that states them once, plainly, fixes the foundation.
Do I need a website if I already have a Google listing?
A listing puts you on the map. A website gives Google something to show and gives customers a place to land. The two work together: your site is where the prices, photos, hours, and the words people actually type live, like emergency diesel repair or donuts near me. Without a site, you are competing with one paragraph.
How long does it take to show up in search?
Google usually finds a new site within a few days and starts showing it within a few weeks. Map results move faster, especially once your name, address, and phone number match everywhere they appear. Reviews speed it up more than anything else, because they are fresh signals that real people walked in.
What does it cost to get found?
Building the site is $100 once, then $30 a month for hosting and support. The monthly plan can be cancelled whenever you want. The monthly covers keeping the site online and making changes, like a new menu, new photos, new hours, or a new service line.
What can I do myself, for free?
Claim or tidy up your Google Business listing: exact business name, correct category, current hours, and photos you took yourself. Ask five customers for a review in the same week. Use the same business name, address, and phone number on your site, your listing, and any directory. Those three steps cost nothing and do most of the work for a local search.
